Art Style
Rubinoff creates his art with captured video images, using a wide range
of colours and computer-based effets. When each picture becomes a definitive
work of art, it is saved to a file. An image can be produced to an original
Giclée canvas or original Giclée print, or to a transparency
mounted on glass.
In this art form, subject matter is derived from what is recorded on
the video footage being used. Rubinoff likes to find a theme for a particular
subject, then, go on to create a complete series around that subject.
The series, ultimately, tells its own story.
GICLÉE
- Created by thin jets spraying millions of droplets of resilient
inks onto fine quality acid free media, ie - canvas or paper; hence,
the name GICLÉE - French for "fine spray"
- Original computer-based creation; each image with exacting
shades and colours culminating in final printing process. An elegant
art form that expresses the talents of the digital artist, in hard
copy.

Abstracts and Interpretive:
Abstracts are always a pleasure for me to create. They release me
from any obligation to particular form or colours. It sets me free.
Of course, having said that, I do allow myself the freedom to bring
in images from any video footage I wish to use, leaving the viewer
the opportunity to interpret the art any way they like. They too,
are free.

Impressionism:
When I first began doing Digital Video Imaging, a lot of the original
footage was of the outdoors and many aspects of nature: sunrises,
sunsets, flowers, trees. It seemed only natural to create from what
I had. It's where I live.

Portraits:
With all the video footage I have worked with, I have found faces
make fascinating subject matter. So much can be done portraying personalities.
Certain expressions can speak volumes.

As stated earlier I enjoy finding or conceiving a theme
for a series of pictures, when viewed together the series will tell
it's own story, although you may interpret it any way you like. After
all, art is personal. Only you can decide what it means, for you. For
example, I give you...
